An ancient mining dump is being transformed into a
world class public golf course. The rough grading started in September 2002.
The proposed soil cap will be enriched with a
blend of endomycorrhizal fungi and trichoderma to enhance the organic soil "foodweb"
of the root zone.
Specific mycorrhizal fungi will be
incorporated to immobilize identified metalloids.
The colonies of fungi will
sequester the metalloids and reduce pollutant loadings of water runoff.
